Who We Are
We are a group of self-identified Leathergirls. Membership is not limited by race, creed, orientation or gender; however, an identification of Leathergirl is essential. A girl-heart is an individual self-identity. San Francisco girls of Leather is a unique and powerful group of individuals — our solidarity and commonality is found in our understanding that the definition of Leathergirl involves who you are and not just how you play.
What We Do
SFgoL holds monthly meetings, communicates via discussion board, does outreach at Leather events throughout the Bay Area, and volunteers for a variety of non-profit organizations.
Our mission is twofold:
- To provide camaraderie, and a safe space to any individual who identifies as a Leathergirl.
- To provide community service within & outside of the Bay Area Leather Community at large.

Well, hello San Francisco girls of Leather! So wonderful to see how much this group has grown and developed!!.
I, along with hayden, Mistress pilar and several other leather girls, started the SFgoL back in 2003-04 — I was San Francisco Leather Dyke girl 2003 and hayden held the same title for 2004. With the help of the Leather Girl Network’s leader sheryl dee, we started and ran the SFgoL for about 2 years, at which time it kinda-sorta faded away due to lack of interest/involvement on the part of too many of us.
But just look at all y’all now!!! More girl power to you! I hope to make it to one of your upcoming meetings or events and get to meet some of you.
Happy Holidays,
girl Lori
Hey fellow gals, I have a random question I’d love your input on. Here in Atlanta the local “Mr/Ms Georgia Leather” pageant is specifically excluding trans folk (it’s for “biological” gay men & lesbians only)… so I’m working on an educational project for the leather community here.
I’m wondering if you recall any examples of transgendered gay leathermen or leatherdykes from the past, whose story I could reference? One of the “arguments” is that trans folks weren’t originally a part of the gay/dyke leather community….
Thanks so much for any pointers!!
